In addition to the recognition, Regions donates $1,000 in the name of the recipient to a nonprofit organization of the winner’s choice. Germany chose the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club (AGBGC), a program that serves 1,200 Birmingham children yearly through nutritional, academic, arts and athletic activities. Germany is a member of the club’s board. A video of Germany is available on the Regions Financial YouTube channel.

Germany helps municipalities, large nonprofits, schools and universities across Alabama and the Florida panhandle fund expansions, upgrade facilities and services and complete other projects. His customers feel he takes on their ventures as his own.

“David knows the community and is always looking out for its needs. In his role at the bank, he helps fill those needs,” said Wendi Boyen, Regions’ Government and Institutional Banking Executive for the company’s South region. “He thinks through everything and has a plan that inevitably brings about the most successful outcome.”

Those outcomes have included increased enrollment at a local private school, the expansion of a business school at a local university and advancements in health care and well-being for many citizens in the area.

“I love that the work I do has an impact on the community, helping educational institutions, parks, hospitals for children,” Germany said. “I’ve been very blessed that I’m supporting organizations that are doing great work, and I get to be a part of it.”

Germany is currently leading efforts to build a multipurpose playing court for the AGBGC and helped found Impact Alabama, an agency that provides free vision screenings to children as well as college preparation and tax preparation. He is a board member for the UAB School of Management and the Birmingham Business Alliance and the City of Birmingham’s Young Professionals program. He is also a United Way of Central Alabama Young Business Leader and a fundraiser for the American Heart Association.

“I believe that work that is done for others is a key ingredient for fulfillment in life,” Germany said.
