The World Technology Network selected Counsyl as one of the world’s leading organizations in science and technology

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Counsyl, a health technology company that offers DNA screening for diseases that can impact men, women and their children, was named a World Technology Award Finalist by the World Technology Network (WTN) – a global community comprised of the most innovative people and organizations at the forefront of science and technology and related fields.

Counsyl has been selected as a finalist for the Health and Medicine category for its innovative approach to increasing accessibility and affordability of genetic screening and its commitment to generate more meaningful health insights for patients by focusing on diseases where advanced knowledge makes a difference in health outcomes. As a finalist, Counsyl is now a Fellow of the World Technology Network and will be part of the global community of innovators elected by the WTN.

“Counsyl is humbled to be recognized among such a distinguished group of industry leaders as a finalist for this award," said Ramji Srinivasan, co-founder and CEO at Counsyl. “We’ve had an incredible year marked with tremendous growth with recently reaching a key milestone of 500,000 patients screened. We are tirelessly dedicated to make genetic screening more broadly accessible, so that everyone can benefit from understanding what specific DNA mutations they carry and how to proactively act on that information.”

Award winners will be revealed at the WTN’s 14th annual World Technology Summit & Awards event, held November 19-20, 2015 at the historic TIME & LIFE Building in New York City. The World Technology Summit & Awards is a global gathering that brings together many of the world’s leading technologists, scientists, futurists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and forward-thinkers for two days of talks, panel discussions and demonstrations that explore what’s groundbreaking, imminent, possible, and society-changing in emerging technologies. This year’s theme is “The Future: Who and What You Need to Know."

Counsyl will be recognized as a finalist among other leaders in the technology industry, including Uber, Alibaba, Oculus, Apple and TESLA. Each year, the WTN recognizes the best and brightest in their fields and the organizations on the cutting edge of technological innovation. Thirty awards across all industries – from art and design to health and medicine to space – will be presented during a special black-tie awards gala on the closing night of the summit.
