Correctional Service of Canada: Willow Cree Healing Lodge Inmate Escapes While on Escorted Temporary Absence

DUCK LAKE, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - July 18, 2008) - On July 17, 2008, Wade Lavalee was reported missing from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre in Edmonton, AB. Lavalee, a Willow Cree Healing Lodge inmate was in Edmonton on an escorted temporary absence. He was being accommodated overnight at the Stan Daniels Healing Centre when he went missing.

The police have been notified and Correctional Services Canada will continue to work with the police in an effort to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

Wade Wendall Lavalee, aged 32, is currently serving a 2 year, 9 month sentence for offences under Alberta Provincial Statutes, and Break and Enter and Theft. His sentence commenced on June 21, 2007 and his warrant expiry date is March 19, 2010.

Wade Lavalee has brown eyes, black hair and a fair complexion. He stands 6 feet, one inch tall and weighs 228 pounds.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Lavalee is asked to contact your local police.

Correctional Services Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the escape and will take action where necessary.

Willow Cree Healing Lodge is a minimum security institution that accommodates 40 inmates.
