City of Scranton, Iowa, Launches New Payment Services
DES MOINES, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The convenience of making electronic payments online and over the counter is now available through Iowa Interactive.
The City of Scranton, Iowa, launched two new services that allow customers to use credit and debit cards to make payments in their offices and online at the City website, www.scrantoniowa.com. The City of Scranton can accept any credit or debit card displaying a Visa, MasterCard or Discover logo.
"Our new payment services provide handy options for customers to pay their utility bills online, in person or over the phone," said City Clerk-Treasurer, Melinda Hinners. “We have found PayPort to be very user-friendly and cost-effective to use. It’s a great system.”
The City partnered with Iowa Interactive, LLC. of Des Moines to provide both payment processing services. This partnership operates under a self-funded model in which no additional tax dollars or county funds were used to develop or maintain the service.
The Clerk’s office is the first in the state to implement Iowa Interactive’s PayPort payment service. In addition to PayPort, Iowa Interactive, a subsidiary of NIC, manages the state’s official Web portal, Iowa.gov, and specializes in electronic government applications.
