Company Founded by 3 Women is #1 in Washington State

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Puget Sound Business Journal announced that Chasing Fireflies(R) ranked number 1 on the 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies list. The 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies were listed, with select companies profiled, in a special publication of the Puget Sound Business Journal.

The Fastest-Growing Private Companies program was launched 15 years ago by the Puget Sound Business Journal to identify and recognize companies speeding to the top of their industries. To be eligible, companies must: be privately held and headquartered in Washington; have at least $500,000 in net revenue in 2006; show an overall growth from 2006 to 2008 fiscal years; and agree to have their CPA confirm their net operating revenues with Puget Sound Business Journal and accounting partner RSM McGladrey.

Established in 2006, Chasing Fireflies is a catalog and online retailer offering magical children's products and dress-up costumes. The 3 cofounders--Dina Alhadeff, Amy Grealish and Lori Liddle--each bring over 20 years of experience to the venture, having worked for a number of nationally known catalog companies.

"We had this cute little business plan that had us at $10 million in revenue at the end of 5 years," said Liddle. They hit that figure in their first full year, and company sales broke the $22 million mark in year 3. Today, Chasing Fireflies has over 100 employees that oversee its catalog, call center and shipping operations in Seattle.

The 3 were surprised and thrilled at their company's #1 ranking. Along with a hard-working team and a passion for what they do, the cofounders credit the positive customer response to their product assortment. "To be successful doing what you love is really the icing on the cake," said Alhadeff.

The 100 Fastest-Growing Private Companies program is presented by the Puget Sound Business Journal; co-presented by RSM McGladrey; and sponsored by KeyBank, Lane Powell and Robert Half International.
