CereScan Supports National Stroke Awareness Month with New Infographic

May 5, 2016 2:00 AM EDT

Littleton, CO (PRWEB) May 05, 2016

CereScan, the nation's leader in providing statistically measured brain diagnostics, is proud to support the National Stroke Association during National Stroke Awareness Month in May. An infographic created by CereScan will be published on the association's Facebook and Twitter pages throughout the month. CereScan will donate $1 up to a maximum of $3,000 through users who share the post, with proceeds to benefit the National Stroke Association in their efforts to reduce the incidence of stroke in the United States.

The graphic, with the intent of promoting and educating through social media, displays common overlapping symptoms of Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury that too often lead to a misdiagnosis and delayed treatment. Functional imaging, such as SPECT and PET, have been proven effective in identifying key areas of differentiation. An accurate diagnosis starts with better data, and CereScan is committed to helping those suffering the symptoms of stroke (and Traumatic Brain Injury) find the answers they need to live a better life.

"Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States, and early detection and intervention is critical to a patient's return to a normal life," said John Kelley, CEO and Chairman of CereScan. "As new medical technologies are emerging every day, we are also making more effective use of existing technologies to accurately identify serious medical conditions. Functional imaging, specifically through SPECT and PET testing, have been most effective in helping to detect and differentiate stroke from other complex brain conditions."

Did you know that…

   •  Stroke kills almost 130,000 Americans each year? That's 1 out of every 20 deaths.
   •  On average, one American dies from stroke every 4 minutes?
   •  Every year, more than 795,000 people in the United States have a stroke?
   •  About 87% of all strokes are ischemic strokes, when blood flow to the brain is blocked?
   •  Stroke costs the United States an estimated $34 billion each year in healthcare services, medications and missed work? CereScan is the nation's leader in providing statistically measured brain diagnostics based on a new generation of imaging software, PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography) and SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) neuroimaging technologies. Referring and treating medical experts can rely on CereScan to offer differentiated diagnoses on a wide array of brain-based disorders including:
