May 20, 2016 10:25 AM EDT

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 05/20/16 -- King & Spalding announced today that Terry D. Novetsky has joined the firm's Global Finance practice in the New York office as a partner. Novetsky comes to King & Spalding from Kaye Scholer, where he was partner.

"Terry's experience with both financial institutions and healthcare puts him at the nexus of two of the firm's strategic areas of growth," said Richard T. Marooney, head of King & Spalding's Financial Institutions practice group. "For our clients in both of these areas, Terry's legal and investment banking background will make him a valuable counselor."

Novetsky represents U.S. and international banks and other financial institutions in a wide variety of leveraged finance and structured finance transactions, including workouts and restructurings. He has significant experience in healthcare finance transactions as well as trade finance and securitization structures. In addition, Novetsky has represented numerous senior lender groups in restructurings, including bankruptcy debtor-in-possession and exit facility programs. Prior to joining Kaye Scholer, Novetsky worked as an investment banker in domestic project finance for three years. Novetsky is nationally and globally ranked by Chambers & Partners.

"Terry is a nationally recognized leader in the capital markets space and in the field of complex structured finance transactions," said Carolyn Z. Alford, head of the firm's Global Finance practice. "Known as a creative thinker and a solutions-driven lawyer, he will fit right in with the rest of the team. We are excited to work with Terry."

Novetsky received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Yeshiva University and his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was editor-in-chief of its Annual Survey of American Law and recipient of the Vanderbilt Medal.

"King & Spalding has fantastic momentum in its Financial Institutions and Global Finance practices," said Novetsky. "I am looking forward to helping both practices to grow."

King & Spalding's Global Finance practice brings together more than 100 finance lawyers located in offices across the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East to represent lenders, investors, funds and borrowers in the full range of secured and unsecured financings.
