University will now offer a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today’s K-12 students require a different learning environment than those who studied before them. As education advances with the help of technology, it is increasingly important that teachers develop new strategies to improve their effectiveness and increase student achievement. That is why Capella University is now offering a Master of Education (MEd) in Teaching and Learning.

Capella’s new online master’s program is designed to provide teachers with the core skills needed to succeed in a 21st-century classroom. Unlike other Master of Education programs, Capella offers a customizable course set alongside a series of foundational courses. Teachers in the program are given the opportunity to custom-build their degree programs in areas that will best benefit them professionally, and help them develop the skills most relevant to their individual teaching roles and professional goals as educators.

“Every teacher is different -- so are each set of students they teach, and every school setting they are in. Our program is one of the first of its kind, and is designed to provide flexibility and personalized learning to the individuals who are doing the hard work of educating the world,” said Amy Smith, PhD, Dean for the School of Education. “At Capella, we want to help teachers master their craft, support them while they do it, and celebrate with them when they’ve accomplished it.”

The program is based on a series of foundational courses that address technology, cultural competency, equity, and innovation that will prepare teachers to lead change in the classroom, while allowing them to focus on specific areas that will be most impactful.

In addition to personalization, teachers are able to use prior learning to potentially save time and money when earning this degree. When enrolling in Capella’s new master’s degree in education, teachers may be able to transfer up to 20 credits*, which could make up more than 40% of the degree program.

No matter where educators are in their teaching careers, a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from Capella can help take their instructional style and knowledge to the next level, engaging students and inspiring them to achieve more.

*Transfer credit eligibility subject to Capella University review and approval.
