Canadian Business Ethics Research Network: Workshop to Bring Together Academics and Practitioners to Discuss Business Ethics Issues in BC and Yukon

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 11, 2009) - A group of people experienced in addressing ethical challenges facing mining will be meeting in Vancouver later this month to discuss current extractive sector social, environmental and moral issues in B.C. and the Yukon identified during a current research project (details available at http://www.businessethicscanada.ca/dialogue/events/225.html).

The meeting is being organized by the Pacific Region Hub of the Canadian Business Ethics Research Network (CBERN). Created in the spring of 2007, CBERN was awarded a $2.1 million grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. CBERN aims to promote knowledge-sharing and partnerships within the field of business ethics broadly defined. It seeks to encourage research, capacity building and dialogue across private, governmental, voluntary and academic sectors.

CBERN has regional hubs located in Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax, with its national office located at the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto.

This a step forward for establishing in BC a focal point for collaboration in the field of business ethics in the 21st century.
