Samsung Electronics America (SEA) today announced the U.S. availability of the WEA453e Access Point (AP). The WEA453e is designed to complement Samsung’s current portfolio of indoor APs, allowing customers to extend a secure wireless experience outdoors at a competitive price.

More than ever, businesses rely on a seamless mobile experience where employees and customers can securely communicate and share information. The WEA453e 802.11ac supports creating secure and seamless Wi-Fi connectivity in outdoor environments, including sports stadiums, resorts, golf courses, multi-family housing and universities, as well as extending in-building wireless networks to the parking lot or developing city-owned public Wi-Fi networks.

The WEA453e was designed specifically for outdoor use. With a low profile (58mm) and lightweight (2.6kg), the access point is both easy to install and melds into a variety of settings. The WEA453e Wi-Fi connectivity, supports dual bands (2.4GHz/5GHz) with 3x3 Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO), delivering a data rate of up to 1.3 Gbps in 5GHz band. It is also equipped with 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports and 802.3at Power over Ethernet (POE) capabilities. Additionally, the WEA453e acquired IP67 certification, which authenticates that the device is dustproof and can withstand water immersion up to one meter for 30 minutes. This makes it resilient through a variety of unpredictable environments.

The three-stream WEA453e 802.11ac access point supports more concurrent devices and higher throughput than single- and double-stream APs, making it ideal for high-density environments. It supports the latest 802.11ac ready devices, but is also backwards-compatible to support older devices with 802.11a/b/g/n standard. With three external antennas, the WEA453e has beamforming capabilities for directional signal transmission.
