Bringing Membership to Life through Mobile; American Express Relaunches iPhone® and Android™ Smart Phone Apps

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Express today announced the newly redesigned Amex® Mobile app for iPhone and Android mobile devices, with updated features and more intuitive navigation that help Personal, Small Business and Corporate Card Members make the most of their American Express benefits, rewards and services. The app goes well beyond paying your bill, bringing many of the benefits and services of Membership to life. The redesigned app includes the convenience of Touch ID™ login, nearby offers on a map, rewards information and unique mobile service features like on-the-spot fraud alert verification.

In December 2014, American Express was one of the first major U.S. financial services companies to offer Touch ID for iPhone users. This latest update includes a beautiful redesign, created with each operating system in mind, that puts Card Members’ top benefits, offers and services just a few taps away. At the request of Android users, Amex Offers, relevant offers that can be loaded directly to their Card, are now available in the Android app. The iPhone app is now also optimized for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

With the AMEX Mobile app, Card Members can:

  • Sign into the app faster with TOUCH ID for supported devices with iOS 8+
  • Stay on Top of Spending:
    • Always know their payment status, with a clearly marked payment due date that’s front and center in the app
    • View pending and posted charges in a recent activity timeline, making it easy to track and pinpoint when each charge was made
    • Quickly filter by additional Card Members to see who is making what charges
  • Get Amex Offers on the go. Discover savings for shopping, dining, and travel. Explore a map of nearby offers and iPhone users can get personalized alerts so you don’t miss out on savings. Android users will have this feature in a future update.
  • Get (& track) the Benefits: The redesigned app brings the benefits, rewards and services of Membership to the forefront. Card Members can learn about the benefits they get with their Card(s) and those enrolled in the Membership Rewards® program have the flexibility to use points for eligible charges within the app. Terms apply.
  • Enjoy Peace of Mind with Fraud Alerts: Receive instant notifications if suspicious activity is detected. Verify charges in just a few taps so Card Members can get right back to using their Card without hassles.
