Bank of America Merrill Lynch Displaces J.P. Morgan Atop Institutional Investor's All-America Research Team
Evercore ISI Jumps Into the Top Three; RBC Capital Markets Cracks the Top 10
NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 10/07/15 -- The competition between the leading providers of U.S. equity research just got tighter, with five firms crowding into the top three places on the 2015 All-America Research Team, Institutional Investor's annual ranking of the nation's best sell-side analysts.
Bank of America Merrill Lynch displaces J.P. Morgan atop the roster, ending the latter's winning streak at five years.

Three firms are locked in a tie for third place overall: Barclays (rising one rung from last year), Evercore ISI (jumping from fifth place) and Morgan Stanley (rank unchanged).
Evercore ISI -- the outfit created last year through the merger of Evercore Partners and International Strategy & Investment Group -- records the highest finish by a non-bulge-bracket firm since 1995, when Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Securities Corp. captured second place.
Last year's No. 11 firm, RBC Capital Markets, leaps two places to finish in the top ten for the first time after adding more team positions than any other firm.
This year's team includes 285 analysts from 31 firms. Among the more noteworthy developments:
- Cornerstone Macro's Nancy Lazar supplants Evercore ISI's Ed Hyman atop the roster in Economics, bringing an end to the latter's phenomenal 35-year reign.
- J.P. Morgan's Joseph Greff earns his tenth consecutive appearance at No. 1 in Gaming & Lodging, thus earning inclusion in the All-America Hall of Fame.
- Evercore ISI's Mark Schoenebaum becomes the first analyst since 1999 to top three sectors in a single year.
The 2015 All-America Research Team reflects the opinions of a record 3,800 individuals at more than 1,000 firms, including over 90 of the 100 biggest U.S. equity managers. Respondents manage an estimated $11.3 trillion in U.S. equities.
Among the 285 individuals who appear on the 2015 All-America Research Team are 30 newcomers -- including two who debut atop their respective sectors. See the list of newcomers here.
J.P. Morgan's Joseph Greff also joins the All-America Hall of Fame this year.
