As Part of Global Expansion, Luminoso Technologies, Inc. Announces the Addition of Several European Clients, and Makes Key Hires in the UK and Australia

November 18, 2016 10:00 AM EST

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Today, Luminoso Technologies, Inc., a leading global player in artificial intelligence (AI)-based deep analytics, announced the addition of three large European clients to its roster, including Wärtsilä, a global leader in advanced technologies for the marine and energy markets, with 2015 net sales that totaled EUR 5 billion. Additionally, Luminoso announced two key hires outside the US, including UK-based Matthew Haines, who will serve as EMEA Director of Sales and Business Development, and Australia-based Bryan Kaanta, who will serve as APAC Sales Engineer.

With roots at the MIT Media Lab, Luminoso uses machine learning and natural language processing to enable rapid analysis of large amounts of unstructured text data. Unlike analytics solutions that rely on ontologies and long lists of keywords, Luminoso’s software uniquely produces the most accurate and unbiased real-time understanding of what people are saying, including insights that were not anticipated. These insights are used to increase marketing performance and build better customer experiences.

In addition to Wärtsilä, Luminoso recently announced the addition of Publicis.Sapient, a division of Publicis Groupe, to its growing list of global channel partners. This comes on the heels of new client additions that include Target Australia and VW Australia, as well as renewed contracts with Korean corporations Halo and WiseNUT. (Luminoso added Korean to its list of 12 mastered languages in October 2016). An expanded international presence and focus will allow Luminoso to deliver its services at even greater scale.

To support its global expansion, Luminoso has hired Matthew Haines, who will be responsible for creating direct client relationships and driving the development of new channel partners for Luminoso across the EMEA markets; and Brian Kaanta, who will be responsible for leading the pre-sales team in architecting custom solutions for customers and prospects in the APAC area. Haines has held key leadership and sales positions over the last 25 years; most recently, with SDL, Kana and Moxie Software, where he served as EMEA General Manager. Kaanta has held key sales and leadership positions as a Solution Consultant for Comfort Systems USA Energy Services, and was previously an active duty Captain in the United States Air Force, where he managed an $8M technology portfolio and conducted primary research in high tech.

“We are thrilled to announce the addition of Wärtsilä to our growing list of clients outside the US, and a new focus on Europe,” said Michael Brunnick, SVP of Global Sales of Luminoso. “As we continue to leverage AI to pioneer new ways of working with clients to solve their greatest business needs, it’s also a giant step forward for Luminoso to have the on-the-ground resources of Haines and Kaanta to help us expand the business outside the US. We are thrilled to announce their addition to our growing and talented team.”
