Arts R Alive in Webster City became a member of the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association during the summer of 2015. Its mission is to promote Sculpture as a public art form and to showcase local and regional artists through partnerships between other art and cultural interests in Webster City, the region and the state of Iowa.

Each year, Arts R Alive in Webster City hosts a sculpture event. Up to 10 artists are invited to submit a sculpture which will be reviewed by a judge or jury with a background in art and/or art education who lives in Iowa.

On Wednesday, August 5th and Thursday, August 6th, beginning at 5pm each day, the Arts R Alive Sculpture Event will be held. New sculptures will be introduced to Webster City at this time. Music will be provided by Jive for Five beginning each evening at 5pm. At 6pm on August 5th, the artists will give a brief presentation about the sculptures they submitted. Music will follow these presentations. The event is free and open to the public.

On August 6th at 6 pm, Kerry Dixon from the Ames Public Arts Commission will speak about the importance of public art in communities. More music will follow her presentations. Complimentary wine, cheese and lemonade will be served both evenings.

Visitors will be voting for their favorite piece in the People's Choice category. Voting is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with the winner being announced on Thursday evening.

"These sculptures serve to enhance the Webster City look and add a unique artistic dimension to the community," according to Janet Adams, a committee member of Arts R Alive. For more information on this event you can email sculpt(at)wcpride(dot)com or janetadams144(at)gmail(dot)com.
