Anhanguera Posts Growth of 132.8% in Adjusted Net Income and 179.8% in EBITDA Adjusted in 1Q08

VALINHOS, Brazil, May 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Anhanguera Educacional Participacoes S.A. - ANHANGUERA (BOVESPA: AEDU11) announces today its results for the first quarter of (1Q08). The Company's operating and financial data are presented on a consolidated basis and in Brazilian real, in conformance with Brazilian Corporate Law, except where stated otherwise. The information presented in this report concerns the performance in the first quarter of 2008 (1Q08) in relation to the first quarter of 2007 (1Q07), except where stated otherwise.

    1Q08 Highlights

    -- The Average Enrollments reached 131 thousand, a 220.5% growth over
       1Q07;
    -- Net Revenue grew by 163.6%, totaling R$ 142 million;
    -- Adjusted EBITDA reached R$ 44.5 million on 1Q08, an increase of 179.8%
       versus 1Q07, resulting in an Adjusted EBITDA Margin of 31.2%;
    -- Adjusted Net Income in 2007 was R$ 32.3 million, compared to R$ 13.9
       million recorded in 1Q07;
