Air Canada flight 624 crash: message from CUPE's Airline Division

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/29/15 -- CUPE's Airline Division and its many thousands of Canadian flight attendant members from across the country collectively breathed a sigh of relief at the news that all 132 passengers and 5 crew members had made it out safely after Air Canada flight 624 crash-landed in Halifax.

"Words can't express how relieved we all feel," said Michel Cournoyer, CUPE's Airline Division President, also President of the Air Canada Component of CUPE. "Our entire community is so glad that everybody made it out safe and sound."

Cournoyer also praised the actions of the three flight attendants on AC624. "This is what flight attendants train for year after year. Managing unexpected emergencies, and saving lives. According to early reports from the scene, our colleagues on AC624 acted with incredible professionalism and bravery. We're so proud of them today.", said Cournoyer.

CUPE represents over 10,000 flight attendants working for Air Canada, Air Transat, Calm Air, Canadian North, Canjet, Cathay Pacific, First Air and Sunwing.
