Aer Lingus Adds 1,000 Seats Boston - Dublin Route to Support Aer Lingus College Football Classic

Aer Lingus College Football Classic between Boston College and Georgia Tech Set for Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 3rd September 2016

JERICHO, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 03/24/16 -- Aer Lingus today announced that it has added two extra roundtrip flights between Boston and Dublin during the first week of September, making 1,000 additional seats available to meet the strong demand from the many thousands of college football fans who wish to make the journey to Ireland to support their college football team, on Irish soil. The extra flights will operate on September 01 and September 05, 2016.

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic between Boston College and Georgia Tech will take place in Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 3rd September, 2016 and is the third time in five years, an American college football game will be staged in Ireland.

Aer Lingus Chief Commercial Officer, Keith Butler said: "We are very proud to partner with Irish American Events, Boston College and Georgia Tech for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in 2016. Aer Lingus operates three daily services from Boston to Ireland with connections to over 40 cities in Europe and we are delighted to increase our capacity on the route to meet the strong demand from US visitors who are keen to experience the game in Dublin's Aviva Stadium. Boston College will be making their second football visit to Ireland; in 1988 Boston College played and defeated Army 38-24 in front of a 42,000 crowd in the old Lansdowne Road.

The game is being organized by a new entity called Irish American Events Ltd which is a joint venture between Corporate.ie and Anthony Travel who have been involved in the recent college football games in Ireland.

Event organizers are confident the game will be a 48,000 ticket sell out and tickets to the game at the Aviva stadium will be available for purchase from 6th April ticketmaster.ie. collegefootballireland.com
