Why: the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM) will announce that more than 31,000 scientists have signed a petition rejecting claims of human-caused global warming. The purpose of OISM's Petition Project is to demonstrate that the claim of "settled science" and an overwhelming "consensus" in favor of the hypothesis of human-caused global warming and consequent climate damage is wrong. No such consensus or settled science exists. As indicated by the petition text and signatory list, a very large number of American scientists reject this hypothesis.
It is evident that 31,072 Americans with university degrees in science - including 9,021 PhDs, are not "a few." Moreover, from the clear and strong petition statement that they have signed, it is evident that these 31,072 American scientists are not "skeptics."

IPCC report
Some people have the mistaken impression that the IPCC report on Climate change was signed exclusively by climatologists. Nothing could be further from the truth, nor should it have been. There is more than climatology involved in the report, like mathematics and computer science as well as other disciplines. This is a full scientific effort by the entire community of concerned and involved scientists. The math involved with the IPCC report is in dispute as well as the computer models, which to date have not shown what is actually happening, nor has any of their predictions come to pass. There are so many discrepancies between reality and the IPCC report that it would be insane to continue to rely on it for anything. Even many of the signatures on it have been disputed and have been found not to be scientists of any discipline. Some of them were maintenance workers in the UN building! I only hope this hoax can be stopped and put to bed before it costs the taxpayer any more than it already has. Between what we're paying in taxes and in consumer goods due to the hysteria over this hoax, we're going broke.
global warming
i think the whole global warming thing is a load of crap and people like al gore are makeing tons of money off from it, that is one of the main things that are going to screw this country up even more is all of these tree huggers bull, this will do nothing but put our economy in an even worse condition and this is going to put lots of hard working people and there families out of jobs this country needs to stop worring about tree hugger crap and worry about our energy needs and our economy.

The same argument by Francis Kirkham can be turned around as well. The idea that we have global warming is contested - as temperature data seems to indicate we are perhaps going to enter a cooling stage very soon. Even the IPCC report ( not the summaries please), indicates that the models don't quite match up with what we are seeing. Almost all of Al Gore's original slides have been disputed (hockey stick graph being the most blatant) so what's left. Al Gore is making more money than any oil executives. At least their salaries are listed where everyone can see them. Why do you thing he won't run for public office? - He found a much more profitable calling and doesn't need to tone down his consumption. He consumes more energy than a small city with his mansion in Tennessee and private plane and Hummers/Lincoln Navigators. Here's another Elmer Gantry gonna cure the worlds ills, while living high off the hog - I think that's a Southern phrase, Tennessee maybe.

"which to date have not shown what is actually happening, nor has any of their predictions come to pass" What about the polar ice caps, world-wide glaciers, & greenland melting at a rapid pace? What about severe droughts & severe rainfall/hurricanes -involving many deaths, to name just a few?
