30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Rise Slightly; Current Rate is 3.49%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

April 26, 2016 2:00 PM EDT

SEATTLE, April 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.49 percent, up 5 basis points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rose early in the week, then hovered around 3.50 percent before dipping to the current rate.

“Mortgage rates increased modestly last week to their highest levels since late March,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “With a number of important data releases scheduled for this week and Wednesday’s Federal Open Market Committee statement, we expect more volatility – and possible upward momentum – moving into the second half of the week.”

Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.

The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 2.69 percent, while the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 2.76 percent.
