2015 Villages at Cabrillo Social Impact Report

CULVER CITY, Calif., July 6, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A unique multi-agency approach to ending homelessness and transforming lives is producing substantial benefits for more than 1,800 residents of Century Villages at Cabrillo, according to a new report by the Long Beach nonprofit provider of affordable housing and supportive services.

CVC, in its fourth-annual Social Impact Report, states that housing stability, income growth and rental savings — regarded in the social services sector as key indicators of success — continued a three-year pattern of improvement in fiscal 2014 even as the organization posted cost savings that exceeded typical industry figures.

In fiscal 2014, CVC served 1,832 individuals, among them 866 veterans. The Long Beach campus offered three levels of housing — temporary, transitional and permanent.

CVC is operated by Century Housing Corporation of Culver City, California, a private 501(c) nonprofit organization. Century was formed in 1995 as the successor agency to the State of California's Century Freeway Housing Program. This year Century celebrates its 20th anniversary and has surpassed $1 billion of investment in the production of affordable housing across the State of California. "Century's investment in the Villages is truly the crown jewel of our portfolio and continues to positively impact the lives of our community's most vulnerable, including our veterans," remarked Ron Griffith, President and CEO of Century.

The 2015 report noted that CVC's housing expansion continues to have an impact on the local economy by creating jobs, generating municipal fees and tax revenues, and increasing spending both during construction and after new homes are occupied.
