TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

TAITRONICS (Taipei Int'l Electronics Show), organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) and BROADBAND Taiwan and Taiwan Int'l RFID Applications Show (TAIWAN RFID) sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, concluded today (Oct. 11th). With it came PV TAIWAN (Taiwan Int'l Photovoltaic Forum & Exhibition), held concurrently in the TWTC (Taipei World Trade Center) that wrapped up with success on Oct. 8.

With the four star events in the ICT industry held linked, the scale of this year's show reached record size. TAITRONICS, Broadband Taiwan and Taiwan RFID in the NANGANG Exhibition Hall attracted more than 50,000 domestic and international industrial professionals for visits and procurement, including more than 4,300 international buyers, an 8% growth from last year. At a time of global economic crisis, it's worth noting that these ICT star shows in Taiwan kept growing in terms of number of buyers and the number of visitors, a factor that underscored the robust capabilities of the Taiwanese ICT industry.

In light of the dazzling business at the show, many exhibiting manufacturers have taken the initiative to place reservations for next year's booths. Many industrial professionals visiting from overseas, including many those from Europe, America, and Australia, also inquired about next year's show so that they could better arrange their visits beforehand. Most of the buyers this year came from Asia with top 5 buying countries being Japan, USA, China, Hong Kong and Korea.

This year, more buyer subsidies were provided by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs. TAITRA also invited key foreign businesses with annual turnover exceeding US$50 million and the Top 3 electronic products distributors/importers from Europe, America, China, and other emerging countries to visit Taiwan and make purchases. During the show, more than 1,500 rounds of procurement meetings were held between domestic & international buyers and our manufacturers. Total procurement value is expected reach US$1 billion.

These combo-ICT industrial shows, the best of their kind in Asia, were not only filled with an influx of visitors but also heated buying. New Zealand buyer Mr. Wayne Matson, visiting TAITRONICS for the 5th time, indicated that the scale of TAITRONICS had grown every year. He was focusing upon safety anti-theft electronic equipment and was especially impressed by products exhibited by Telexper and Uniconductor Corporation.

Italian buyer Mr. Marco Bosatra, who was visiting the shows for the first time, praised the thoughtful arrangements of the organizers in putting ICT related industries like electronics, broadband communication and RFID together. The homogenous electronic products and their peripheral extensions added to the professionalism of the shows. Singapore buyer Mr. Sajam Ebrahim Salim also indicated that Taiwan started early in the development of WiMAX to become a mainstream producer for East Asia and Southeast Asia, with more advanced product R&D and equipment, and the prices of Taiwanese products are quite competitive on the international market. Since Singapore is close to Taiwan geographically, his company is evaluating the possibility of purchasing communication products from Taiwanese manufacturers.

Many buyers highly praised the new products launches at the show which included "Taiwan Fine Products", "iF Award Winning Products", and "Green Electronics". Other star attractions for international buyers included the Innovation and Creation Award winners, the memory module of Nanya Technology Corporation, the intelligent energy-saving LCD of Tatung, the hard disk from A-Data Technology, and the Internet multi-media television box of Gigabyte.

The items in the "Taiwan Fine Products" and "iF Award Winning Products" though quite different from one another all had the similar characteristics of unique design skillfully combined with technology. This year also featured the "Cross-Strait Electronics" section that hosted nearly 100 booths to open wonderful opportunities for business exchanges in the Chinese and Taiwanese electronic industries.

This, the first, Broadband Taiwan had enthusiastic participation from both government and industry. It featured three major sections and five theme pavilions that presented astonishing state-of-the-art optical fiber Internet technologies. TECOM, the famous domestic giant, presented WiMAX, optical equipment, and image application technology in combination with TECO electrical products. Chunghwa Telecom also introduced 13 Internet services, among which were FTTx that combines broadband technology with daily life services.

Allied Business Intelligence Inc., a U.S. market survey company, predicts that the RFID industry will be in full development from late 2008 to 2012 and that annual growth during this period will reach US$8.4 billion. Value Provider International Corporation used the latest chip developed by Texas Instruments to improve recognition while reducing energy consumption. Its successful products are now utilized in the daily life of the public. Meanwhile RFID application products manufactured by Summit Automation emphasize surveillance and inspection safety and are widely preferred in industrial applications.

With this came PV Taiwan (the 2nd Taiwan Int'l Photovoltaic Forum & Exhibition), sponsored by Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs and organized by TAITRA, which successfully wrapped up at the Taipei World Trade Center on the Oct. 8. It underscored robust industrial capabilities and R&D technologies in the photovoltaic industry of Taiwan. Its participants included Lucky Power, U-CAN, Perfect Source, Cock Rooster, Chroma Ate, K-MAC, and Faithful Printing Equipment & Supply who all reported amazing results with on-site trading value is estimated to have exceeded NT$1 billion. This international venue of the most diversified products opened the big window for professionals from both home and abroad to see the latest most innovative concepts and products in the PV industry.

The ICT star shows were packed full of activities and products that included the WiFi Alliance Symposium Meeting, Taipei Summit, ICT Latest Products Launches, Cross-Strait Communication Industry Seminar, Green Procurement Policies of International Companies, and the IECQ Roundtable. At the Taiwan Int'l RFID Applications Conference, Mr. Calvin Anderson, Vice Chairman of the RFID Association of Australia, Mr. Walter M.S. Yeh, Executive Vice President, and RFID experts from different countries established new directions for the RFID industry.

Meanwhile at the Taipei Summit, Mr. Garth Collier, Managing Director of Intel Corporation in Asia, Mr. Shyue-ching Lu, CEO of Chunghwa Telecom, and Dr. Sascha Haselmaye, Chairman of EU Living Labs Global, established the policies and visions for a new broadband intelligent life. In the 2008 3D IC Design & EDA Tool Workshop, participants discussed how to save energy, increase performance, cut costs, use stacked packaging IC and apply applications for consumer electronics. The rich peripheral activities not only depicted new directions for the future of the industry but also unveiled new business opportunities for the manufacturers.

To maximize business opportunities for domestic and international ICT manufacturers and buyers and in light of the successful experience and fruitful results this year, during next year's Taipei International Electronics Show (October 8th to October 11th, 2009), Taiwan RFID and the Taiwan International Photovoltaic Forum and Exhibition (October 8th to October 9th) will continue to be held together, while Broadband Taiwan will combine WiMAX Form to run from October 26th to October 29th at Exhibition Hall 3 of the TWTC to offer even greater business prospects, transactions, and technical exchanges.
