Star Scientific (Nasdaq: STSI) 51.5% HIGHER; shares have spiked dramatically following news a U.S. Appeals court revived the company's patent lawsuit against Reynolds American (NYSE: RAI).
Quest Resource Corporation (NASDAQ: QRCP) 26% LOWER; today announced that it and Quest Energy Partners, L.P. and Quest Midstream Partners, L.P. have accepted the resignation of Jerry Cash, as Chairman and CEO of all three entities, effective immediately. The resignation followed the discovery, in connection with an inquiry from the Oklahoma Department of Securities, of questionable transfers of company funds to an entity controlled by Mr. Cash. Initial indications are that the amount in question appears to involve about $10 million.
Healthways, Inc. (NASDAQ: HWAY) 21.1% LOWER; establishes its guidance for earnings per diluted share for the three months ending November 30, 2008, in a range of $0.34 to $0.37. (Consensus is $0.46) Healthways today affirms its previously issued guidance for fiscal 2008 revenues in a range of $720 million to $740 million, which would represent an increase of 17% to 20% from fiscal 2007. (Consensus is $735.79 million) The Company today also affirms its previously issued guidance for fiscal 2008 earnings per diluted share in the range of $1.50 to $1.55, which would represent an increase of 23% to 27% from fiscal 2007. (Consensus is $1.51)

AgFeed Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: FEED) 16.7% HIGHER; today announced that it has reached agreements to acquire 4 producing commercial hog farms in South China. AgFeed expects these acquisitions to close in early September. All of the Company's acquired hog farms are immediately accretive to earnings. AgFeed is also in discussions with multiple other farms as potential acquisition targets. Affirms its FY08 EPS guidance of $1.08-$1.20, versus the consensus of $1.00.
Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE) 15.6% HIGHER; after starting today's trading session substantially lower as traders continue to question the GSE's fate, shares of Freddie rebounded just after the open and are continuing higher heading to the afternoon session. Shares of Fannie Mae (NYSE: FNM), while positive, are not faring quite as well: the stock is up just about 5%.
Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: GILT) 11.7% LOWER; reports Q2 non-GAAP EPS of $0.03, versus the analyst estimate of $0.12. Revenues for the quarter were $65.6 million, versus the consensus of $74 million. Private equity investors verbally informed the Company that they will not close the merger transaction at the agreed upon $11.40 share price.
A-Power Energy Generation Systems (NASDAQ: APWR) 11.4% LOWER; reports Q2 revenues of $65.7 million, versus the consensus of $62.13 million. Sees FY08 earnings in the range of $35-$45 million.
R.H. Donnelley (NYSE: RHD) 9.7% HIGHER; despite no news or rumors, RHD continues higher this week; Since Wednesday's close, the stock is up more than 42%.
LDK Solar Co.Ltd. (NYSE: LDK) 8.5% HIGHER; sees 2009 revenues between $2.8 billion and $3.0 billion, versus the consensus of $2.43 billion. Expects wafer shipments between 1.45 GW to 1.55 GW.
China Precision Steel (Nasdaq: CPSL) 7.9% HGHER; after gaining about 7% last week, shares continue higher today despite any direct news release from the company.
