Thermage, Inc. (Nasdaq: THRM) 35.6% HIGHER; announced yesterday after the close that it has received a revised unsolicited, non-binding proposal from a third party for an alternative transaction to Thermage's pending merger with Reliant Technologies, Inc. The unsolicited, non-binding proposal calls for the acquisition of all of the outstanding shares of Thermage for a price of $5.50 per share in cash or a combination of cash and stock, subject to due diligence and negotiation of a definitive agreement.
Hot Topic (Nasdaq: HOTT) 23.3% LOWER; reports Q2 loss of $0.01, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.02). Revenues for the quarter were $166.8 million, versus the consensus of $166.7 million. Hot Topic sees Q3 EPS of 12 cents to 15 cents versus consensus of 16 cents. Hot Topic closed at $6.87 today.
Salesforce.com, Inc. (NYSE: CRM) 16% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.08, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.08. Revenues for the quarter were $263.1 million, versus the consensus of $260.56 million. Sees FY09 revs of $1.07-$1.075 billion, versus the consensus of $1.07 billion. Sees FY EPS of $0.34-$0.35, versus prior guidance of $0.33-$0.34 and the consensus of $0.35.
JDS Uniphase (Nasdaq: JDSU) 15.1% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.07, 3 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.10. Revenues for the quarter were $390.3 million, versus the consensus of $395.83 million. Sees Q1 sales in the range of $378-$394 million, versus the consensus of $399.50 million.
Tengasco (AMEX: TGC) 14.6% HIGHER; with crude oil surging over the $120 level today, energy stocks are having a great day on Wall Street. Notably, shares of Tengasco are seeing heavy volume today: the stock normally trades about 1.7 million shares a day, but by noon, the stock has already traded about 1.1 million times.
Chesapeake (NYSE: CSK) 14.6% LOWER; not hearing any specific news related to the company. After opening today's trading session at the same level as yesterday's close, shares of Chesapeake nose-dived, moving from $1.30 at 10 AM ET to under $1.10 by 11:30.
SemGroup Energy Partners (Nasdaq: SGLP) 12.4% HIGHER; yesterday after the close, SemGroup announced that it received a NASDAQ notice regarding its delayed 10-Q. As a result, SemGroup's shares are subject to delisting from the Nasdaq. Responding to the notification, SemGroup held a business update call at 4:30 PM ET yesterday. While analysts are saying that the call was not very bullish, it appears the market is reacting positively to comments made by management on the call.
Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. (NYSE: DKS) 11.5% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.39, ex-items, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenues for the quarter were $1.086 billion, versus the consensus of $1.10 billion. Sees FY08 adj-EPS of $1.27-$1.36. Q3 EPS are expected to be in the range of $0.04-$0.08, versus the consensus of $0.08.
The Children's Place Retail Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCE) 11.5% HIGHER; reports a Q2 adjusted loss of $0.03 vs. consensus for $0.43 loss - may not be comparable. Revenues were $338.0 million vs. $339.03 million consensus.
Synopsys (Nasdaq: SNPS) 10.7% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.44, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.39. Revenues for the quarter were $344.1 million, versus the consensus of $339.60 million. Synopsys sees Q4 EPS of $0.36-$0.39, versus the consensus of $0.40. sees revs of $348-$356 million, versus the consensus of $354.35 million. Also, Citi downgraded the stock to Sell this morning.
Citi Trends, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTRN) 10.1% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.20, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.17. Revenues for the quarter were $115.7 million, versus the consensus of $115.70 million. Q2 comps up 6.5%. Citi Trends reaffirms forecast.
