Pre-Open Movers 7/23: Fannie (FNM), Freddie (FRE) Up Housing Bill' Costco (COST) Sinks On Lower Guidance

Philadelphia Consolidated Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: PHLY) 63% HIGHER; Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. and Philadelphia Consolidated entered into a definitive agreement under which TMHD will acquire all outstanding shares of Philadelphia Consolidated for $61.50 per share in cash.
The total transaction value is approximately U.S. $4.7 billion. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Aehr Test Systems (Nasdaq: AEHR) 26% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.21 (ex-$0.53 per share tax benefit), 5 cents worse than the analyst estimate of $0.26. Revenues for the quarter were $10.9 million, versus the consensus of $11.80 million. (Note - only 1 analyst)
ANADIGICS, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANAD) 23% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.18, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.16. Revenues for the quarter were $80.5 million, versus the consensus of $78.19 million. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.10-$0.14, versus the consensus of $0.18.
ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) 20% LOWER; expects sales from continuing operations for fiscal 2008 to be in the range of $1.500-$1.520 billion. Previous annual guidance was $1.520-$1.540 billion. The Wall Street consensus is $1.53 billion.
VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW) 15% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.23, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.23. Revenues for the quarter were $456 million, versus the consensus of $458.62 million. Sees FY08 revs up 42-45% and sees Q3 revs of $462-$468 million, versus the consensus of $497.3 million.
E*TRADE Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: ETFC) 13% LOWER; reports a Q2 loss of $0.19, 5 cents lower than the analyst estimate of ($0.14). On call, says loan losses could exceed previous $1.5B forecast.
Costco Wholesale Corp. (Nasdaq: COST) 12% LOWER; said earnings per share for the fourth quarter are expected to be well below the current First Call consensus earnings per share estimate of $1.00.
Intuitive Surgical (Nasdaq: ISRG) 11% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $1.25, 10 cents better than the analyst estimate of $1.18. Revenues for the quarter were $219.2 million, versus the consensus of $208.62 million.
C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc (Nasdaq: CHRW) 10% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.52, 3 cents worse than the analyst estimate of $0.55. Revenues for the quarter were $2.32 billion, versus the consensus of $2.19 billion.

First Horizon (NYSE: FHN) 10% HIGHER; Goldman upgrades to Buy
Infinera Corporation (Nasdaq: INFN) 10% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.11, excludes stock based compensation, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.03). Revenues for the quarter were $90.8 million, versus the consensus of $89.22 million.
SeaBright Insurance Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: SEAB) 9% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.39, 10 cents below the analyst estimate of $0.49. Revenues for the quarter were $91.8 million, versus the consensus of $73.96 million.
Northwest Airlines (NYSE: NWA) 9% HIGHER; reports a Q2 loss of $1.43, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.54). Revenues for the quarter were $3.58 billion, versus the consensus of $3.44 billion. Sees Delta (NYSE: DAL) merger closing during Q4.
Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE) 8% HIGHER; Expected approval of housing bill after President Bush drops opposition.
Zimmer Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: ZMH) 8% LOWER; reports Q2 adjusted EPS of $1.03, in-line with estimates. Revenues were $1.08 billion vs. $1.07 billion consensus. Zimmer Holdings (NYSE: ZMH) said it will temporarily suspends marketing and distribution of Durom. Sees FY08 EPS of $4.05-$4.10, versus prior guidance of $4.20-$4.25 and the consensus of $4.19. Revs for the year are expected to be up 8.5-9%, versus its previous guidance of up 10-11%.
Washington Mutual (NYSE: WM) 7.9% LOWER; reports a Q2 loss of $3.34, versus the analyst estimate of ($1.05). Boosted loan loss reserve by $3.74 billion. Also, Moody's places Washington Mutual's ratings on review for possible downgrade.
Whirlpool (NYSE: WHR) 7% HIGHER; reports Q2 earnings of $1.53 per share, above the consensus of $1.37. Revenues came in at $5.08 billion, versus the consensus of $5.03 billion. Sees FY08 EPS of $7.00-$7.50 versus the consensus of $6.71.
Northwest Pipe (Nasdaq: NWPX) 7% HIGHER; reports Q2 earnings of $0.90 per share, above the consensus of $0.61. Revenues came in at $112.1 million, versus the consensus of $102.9 million.
Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM) 7% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.25, which may not compare to the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenues for the quarter were $1.2 billion, versus the consensus of $1.11 billion. Sees Q3 sales of $1.25-$1.3 billion, versu sthe consensus of $1.16 billion.
Pactiv (NYSE: PTV) 6% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.50, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.48. Revenues for the quarter were $951 million, versus the consensus of $931.15 million. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.32-$0.40, versus the consensus of $0.47. Sees FY EPS of $1.58-$1.84, versus prior view of $1.85-$2.05 and the consensus of $1.78.

NII Holdings (Nasdaq: NIHD) 5% HIGHER; reports Q2 earnings of $0.88 per share, above the consensus of $0.64. Revenues came in at $1.1 billion, versus the consensus of $1.04 billion.
Aaron Rents, Inc. (NYSE: RNT) 5% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.39 (ex-items), 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.37. Revenues for the quarter were $411.2 million, versus the consensus of $405.89 million. "For the entire 2008 year we continue to expect Company revenues of approximately $1.7 billion (excluding revenues of franchisees) and are raising our previous diluted earnings per share range of guidance of $1.40 to $1.55 for the year to $1.54 to $1.64, primarily due to the improving trends in our performance and market opportunity."
Illumina, Inc. (Nasdaq: ILMN) 4% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.44, 16 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.28. Revenues for the quarter were $140.2 million, versus the consensus of $129.99 million. For the third quarter of 2008, the company expect revenues between $142 and $147 million. They expect earnings per fully diluted share of $0.42 to $0.45. (Q3 revenue consensus is $136.66 million and EPS consensus is $0.31). Expects revenue for 2008 between $550 and $560 million, representing year-over-year growth between 50% and 53%.
Axsys Technologies (Nasdaq: AXYS) 3% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.53, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.48. Revenues for the quarter were $60.3 million, versus the consensus of $56.23 million. Sees '08 EPS between $2.09 to $2.15 versus consensus of $1.92. Sees '08 revenue between $237-$241 million versus consensus of $227.91 million.
Frontline Ltd. (NYSE: FRO) 2.8% HIGHER; JP Morgan upgrades to Overweight
McDonald's Corp. (NYSE: MCD) 2.7% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.94, ex-items, versus the consensus of $0.86. Revenues came in at $6.075 billion, versus the consensus of $5.92 billion. Global comparable sales up 6.1%.
AK Steel Holding Corp. (NYSE: AKS) 2.6% HIGHER; JP Morgan upgrades to Overweight
Supertex (Nasdaq: SUPX) 2.6% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.39, 10 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.29. Revenues for the quarter were $22.75 million, versus the consensus of $20.98 million.
US Bancorp (NYSE: USB) 2.3% LOWER; Goldman downgrades to Neutral
Yahoo, Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) 2% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.10, ex-items, 2 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.12. Revenues for the quarter were $1.35 billion, versus the consensus of $1.37 billion.
