Pali Research Initiates Coverage on DIRECTV Group (DTV) with a Buy
Pali Research initiates coverage on DIRECTV Group (NYSE: DTV) with a Buy. Price target $32.
Pali analyst says, "Digital Channels, DVRs, TIVO-interface, HD Channels, and Remote Scheduling illustrate how DirecTV has been able to continuously innovate to stay ahead of its rivals, despite an increasingly competitive multichannel landscape. DirecTV only does one thing, video, and they simply do it better than others by putting the consumer first and “super serving” video consumers in every way possible."
"DirecTV has been plagued by an uncertain ownership structure for years: a failed Echostar merger, purchase/sale of a controlling stake by News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) and then majority control by a tracking stock of Liberty Media (Nasdaq: LMDIA). Following the recently announced LMDIA/DTV transaction, which is expected to close by year-end 2009, DirecTV will finally have its entire shareholder base under its own roof (meaning one public security)."
