Nomura Securities initiates coverage on The Carlyle Group LP (NASDAQ: CG) with a Neutral. PT $22.00.
Analyst, Glenn Schorr, said, "The outlook for alternative asset managers is favorable with competition declining due to regulatory reform, regulatory arbitrage as banks try to sell their assets, and investors seek higher non-correlated returns. Carlyle has a full house of products with expanding distribution capabilities in the best growth markets. However, several issues concern us including 1) potential tax changes, 2) large stock overhang, 3) complex organizational structure, 4) earnings volatility, 5) poor performance of past alternative manager IPOs, and 6) weak equity markets. Our annual ENI/unit estimate for 2012/2013 is $2.77/$3.36."
