Does Nu Skin (NYSE: NUS) really have backing from a Stanford University researcher?

According to Reuters, the answer is "no."

Stanford sent a cease-and-desist letter to Nu Skin asking that the company stop using Stuart Kim's name in its advertising material. Kim is listed as a "Nu Skin Partner," according to reports.

Kim told Retuers he previously collaborated with Nu Skin, but ended that relationship in 2011.

Nu Skin shares are down 4.6 percent Thursday afternoon.
