Ebola Stocks on Watch; New York Doctor Tests Positive Following Guinea Trip

Ebola stocks are on watch on headlines New York may have its first case of the deadly disease. Dr. Craig Spencer, who returned to New York from Africa 10 days ago, was rushed to the hospital, according to New York Post sources.

Spencer had Ebola-like symptoms upon being admitted, including a 105F fever and nausea. The doctor had been treating Ebola patients in Guinea, according to sources familiar with the matter.

* Headlines have the patient's test results expected to be released within 12 hours.

* The NYC health department is tracing all of the patients contacts, as well.

* NYC's health department is working closely with HHC.

* The patient returned to the U.S. within 21 days from West Africa.

UPDATE (10/24) -

Spencer has tested positive for the Ebola virus.

The doctor, a 33-year-old Doctors Without Borders volunteer, returned last Friday. Among other things, Spencer went bowling, used an Uber taxi, rode the subway, went on a run, bowled, and did numerous other activities in the days since his return and before he was diagnosed.

New York Department of Heath and Mental Hygiene commented, We don’t want to give the impression he self-quarantined, but he did limit his contact ... He did attempt to self-isolate.

Neighbors and the Uber driver are said to have self quarantined.
