Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 2/12: GCT, AOI, DYAX Higher; DY, NXTM, ZOLT, NURO Lower
GMH Communities Trust (NYSE: GCT) 56.7% HIGHER; entered into two definitive agreements in connection with the sale of the military and student housing divisions of GMH Communities Trust. The first agreement is a securities purchase agreement with a U.S. subsidiary of Balfour Beatty plc pursuant to which Balfour Beatty will purchase the Company's military housing division. The second agreement is a merger agreement with American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE: ACC), pursuant to which, following the closing of the Military Housing Transaction, the Company will be acquired by a subsidiary of ACC. The aggregate per share value of both the Military Housing Transaction and the Merger is expected to be approximately $9.61 per share/unit, based on the closing price of ACC's shares of common stock on February 11, 2008. The per share/unit value represents a premium of 72% to the closing price of the Company's common shares on February 11, 2008.
Dycom Industries, Inc. (NYSE: DY) 28.5% LOWER; warned for Q2. Revenue for the second quarter is expected to be approximately $285 million, which is below the range of $290 million to $310 million. Dycom sees non-GAAP EPS of $0.03-0.04, which is $0.11 to $0.12 cents per share below the low end of the guidance provided in November 2007. The Wall Street consensus is $300.8 million and $0.20, respectively.
Nxstage Medical (Nasdaq: NXTM) 25.8% LOWER; reported a Q4 loss of $0.47, which included a $3.2M charge from the acquisition of Medisystems, versus the consensus of a $0.34 loss. Revenues for the quarter were $29.9 million, versus the consensus of $28 million. Nxstage Medical sees a Q1 loss of $0.38-$0.41 per share, versus the consensus of a $0.30 loss. The company sees Q1 revenues of $29-$31 million, versus the consensus of $30 million. Nxstage Medical sees a loss for FY08 of $1.41-$1.52, versus the consensus of a $0.92 loss. The company sees FY08 revenues of $130-$140 million, versus the consensus of $136.7 million.
Alliance One International (NYSE: AOI) 21.6% HIGHER; announced it would need to restate its Q2 results due to a $6.9 million charge that was not included. The restructuring and asset impairment charge is related to the sale of Compania General de Tabacos de Filipinas, S.A. The Company said its Q2 results should no longer be relied upon.

Dyax Corp. (NASDAQ: DYAX) 19.1% HIGHER; announced it and sanofi-aventis (NYSE: SNY) have entered into agreements in which sanofi-aventis has been granted an exclusive worldwide license for the development and commercialization of the fully human monoclonal antibody DX-2240, as well as a nonexclusive license to Dyax's proprietary antibody phage display technology. Dyax is eligible to receive up to $500 million in license fees and milestone payments in the case of full commercial success of the first five antibody candidates.
Zoltek (Nasdaq: ZOLT) 17.3% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.08, 16 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.24. Revenues for the quarter were $40.1 million, versus the consensus of $44.59 million.
NeuroMetrix (Nasdaq: NURO) 16.9% LOWER; continues to slide today even after selling off 47% yesterday. Reported Q4 revenues of $10.1 million, versus the consensus of $11.23 million. Earnings came in at ($0.17), 4 cents better than the Street estimate of ($0.21).
Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO) 16.7% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.07, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.05. Revenues for the quarter were $106.8 million, versus the consensus of $109.39 million.
Valeant Pharmaceuticals (NYSE: VRX) 16.2% HIGHER; announced positive results for retigabine in RESTORE 1. Retigabine is being developed as an adjunctive treatment for adult epilepsy patients with refractory partial-onset seizures.
Emergency Medical Services Corp. (NYSE: EMS) 13.8% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.31, 3 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.34. Revenues for the quarter were $537.2 million, versus the consensus of $542.58 million.
Forward Air (Nasdaq: FWRD) 13.7% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.43, 5 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.38. Revenues for the quarter were $114.5 million, versus the consensus of $104.83 million.
