UPDATE - Softbank owns over 80 percent of Sprint after acquiring the stake in 2013.
Softbank could make a move after a new FCC head is named, which will come with the election of a new U.S. president. Softbank's prior effort to acquire Sprint was thwarted by regulatory concerns from the FCC and Department of Justice.
