Marubeni's $3.6B Deal w/ Gavilon Group Has Sector Moving (AGU) (POT) (UAN) (MON)

Seed companies might be on watch following the massive acquisition of one of the industry's largest grain merchandiser in the U.S.

According to reports out Tuesday, Gavilon Group is in a acquisition deal with Japan's Marubeni Corp. for about $3.6 billion. Core capabilities include origination, storage and handling, transportation and logistics and marketing and distribution or grains and oilseeds, potash-, phosphate-, and nitrogen-based products, as well as feed ingredients.

  • Potash (NYSE: POT);
  • Mosaic (NYSE: MOS);
  • Agrium (NYSE: AGU);
  • Rentech Nitrogen (NYSE: RNF);
