October 6, 2008 9:00 AM EDT

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA--(Marketwire - Oct. 6, 2008) - GardaWorld, the Consulting and Investigation / Global Risks Group of Garda World Security Corporation (TSX: GW) (Garda), one of the most trusted consulting, investigation and security firms in the world, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Paul Evans, the former Boston Police Commissioner and a recognized law enforcement expert, as Managing Director in its Boston office, where he will manage consent decree monitorships and performance review, planning and police standards for law enforcement and government entities.

Before joining GardaWorld, Mr. Evans was Director of the Police and Crime Standards Directorate of the Home Office in the United Kingdom with the mission to transform policing in England and Wales. In that role, he was responsible for measuring, monitoring and improving police and partnership performance throughout the UK. He helped the government achieve its 2008 crime reduction targets and advised two Prime Ministers and four Home Secretaries on crime issues during his four year tenure.

Mr. Evans, during a 34 year career with the Boston Police Department, achieved every civil service rank and held the positions of Chief of Patrol, Chief of Detectives and Superintendent in Chief. In 1993, he was named Commissioner of the department, a post he held for nearly ten years. Under his leadership as Commissioner, Boston experienced dramatic reductions in crime, particularly violent crime. Additionally, thanks to an innovative police-community partnership, no juvenile was killed in the city for a period of two years. That success came to be known as the "Boston Miracle." Mr. Evans instituted community policing and significantly reduced fear and crime in the city.

The recipient of numerous professional and community awards, Mr. Evans is a graduate of Boston State College and completed his law degree, cum laude, at Suffolk University Law School. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
