Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) shares are holding gains Monday amid reports the company closed a deal to acquire Face.com.

The update was posted on Face.com's website. Financial data and other terms were not officially disclosed, though TechCruch reported in late May that a price of $100 million might be about right.

Face.com offers a facial recognition program which could be helpful for tagging friends in photos posted to Facebook. But for those of us who would rather remain a little more anonymous, hopefully Facebook includes an option to opt-out of the tagging feature, or notification of when you've been recognized. Given Facebook's updated privacy settings, that shouldn't be an issue.

Shares are up 5.8 percent in afternoon trading.
