Dell (DELL) Shares Volatile as Another Bidding War Takes Shape

Dell Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL) is seeing a little relief this afternoon as it may have been outbid for Quest Software (Nasdaq: QSFT), possibly getting shareholders off the hook.

After Quest announced last week that it has received a $25.50 'superior proposal' from a 'strategic buyer' - that was likely Dell -, reports today suggest original bidder Insight is back with an even bigger bid.

With a price tag of $2.5 billion, Dell shareholders are feeling good today. However, with memory of an all-out bidding war 3Par in 2010, Dell holders should not get too comfortable.
