Anheuser-Busch InBev (NYSE: BUD) has received a request for additional information from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) with respect to its previously announced combination with Grupo Modelo. The request for additional information is often referred to as a ‘second request’ and is a normal part of the review process under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Improvements Act of 1976 (HSR Act).
The company intends to respond expeditiously to the second request and continues to expect the transaction to close during the first quarter of 2013. Completion of the transaction remains subject to the expiration or termination of the waiting period under the HSR Act and other customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals in Mexico and other countries.
