There's 'No Preset Timetable' for Raising Rates - Fed's Lacker
(Updated - January 9, 2015 1:03 PM EST)
Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond President Jeffrey Lacker says no 'preset timetable' for raising rates, according to Bloomberg. Lacker sees only tentative evidence of wage growth and is leaning toward
a higher-growth scenario for 2015.
UPDATE - Lacker is looking for U.S. GDP growth of 2.5 to 3 percent for 2015, though a lower-growth scenario should not be entirely ruled out.
Inflation trends could be a little more difficult to discern in the coming months as energy prices remain volatile, Lacker noted. The drop in energy prices could bleed through
into inflation, which appears to be panning out now, he noted.
Despite the caution, Lacker sees better odds now that the recent pickup in growth will be sustained.
