UTStarcom (UTSI) CFO to Retire; Patel Named Interim CFO

UTStarcom (Nasdaq: UTSI) today announced that Francis Barton, the company's Executive VP and CFO, will retire from the company, effective August 31, 2008.

The company's Board appointed Viraj Patel to the position of Interim CFO while a search is conducted for Mr. Barton’s permanent replacement. Mr. Patel’s appointment is effective as of September 1, 2008.

UTStarcom, Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells telecommunications infrastructure, handsets, and customer premise equipment to telecommunications service providers or operators worldwide.
