Following last September's announcement that Mark Fetting would be stepping down as CEO at Legg Mason (NYSE: LM), the venerable investment manager might be inching closer to name a new chief.
Dow Jones is reporting that Legg Mason might select a new CEO as soon as this week, though no further details were made.
Fetting stepped down last October, with Joe Sullivan, Head of Global Distribution, taking on the role of Interim Chief Executive Officer while a replacement was being evaluated.
Shares are up about 8 percent since the announcement last year.
