American Express (AXP) Taps BofA's (BAC) Marc Gordon as CIO

American Express Company (NYSE: AXP) announced the appointment of Marc D. Gordon to the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer, effective September 4, 2012. As head of the company’s global Technologies organization, Mr. Gordon will report to Stephen J. Squeri, Group President, Global Corporate Services. Mr. Gordon will also become a Corporate Officer upon his election by the American Express Board of Directors at the next scheduled meeting.
Most recently, Mr. Gordon served as Enterprise CIO and Chief Technology Officer at Bank of America (NYSE: BAC), where he led the development of industry-leading capabilities and innovations at very large scale. Previously, he was CIO for Best Buy and The Timberland Company. Marc began his career as a consultant at Accenture, serving clients across a range of industries.
