Alibaba's (NYSE: BABA) Jack Ma underlined his plans to move on from the company he founded at a conference in Hong Kong Friday that was broadcast live on Facebook, Nikkei reported.
"I don't want to die at the office," Ma said. "For e-commerce, I've already spent 17 years to build it. I want to retire early. I really want to ... start [looking] at the world."
Ma has already passed the to-day operation of the group by tapping successor Daniel Zhang Yong as CEO.
Ma didn't elaborate if he would step down as chairman, and didn't provide a timeline for his retirement.
