Google (GOOG) Lower; Appeals Court Asks ITC to Revisit Motorola Patent Case vs. Microsoft

October 3, 2013 11:52 AM EDT
Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is seeing some weakness Thursday afternoon following reports that an appeals court has asked the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to revisit a ruling that the search giant's subsidiary -- Motorola Mobility -- didn't violate Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) patents.

Reuters noted that the U.S. court of appeals said that Motorola didn't infringe on three Microsoft patents, but found that the ITC erred on its finding that Motorola didn't infringe on a fourth, which covers meeting-scheduling technology.

The case at the ITC was No. 337-744. At the Federal Circuit, the case is No. 2012-1445, -1535.
