Will Micorosft (MSFT) Appoint an Interim CEO Before Permanent Selection is Made? (NOK)

November 14, 2013 9:25 AM EST
Micorosft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) next CEO might be an internal choice after all.

According to microsoft-news.com, citing Chinese tech blog WPDang, says Microsoft CEOO Kevin Turner might be the immediate choice for CEO. The blog continued that Turner would hold the role for two to three years, at which point former Nokia (NYSE: NOK) boss Stephen Elop would assume control.

Turner has worked at Microsoft for about eight years and was at Wal-mart (NYSE: WMT) for 20 years prior to that. While the executive would be able to drive performance in the interim, Microsoft is more likely to need a leader with a little more vision that can take the company to the next level.

Microsoft has not commented on the rumor and there is no indication that this strategy will play out.

Shares of Microsoft are down in early trading Thursday.
