Apple, Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Intel (Nasdaq; INTC) might be in collaboration over a new watch.
A smart watch.
According to Chinese tech blog TGbus.com, via TheNextWeb, the two tech giants will collaborate over a new wearable computer and may very well release the new device in the first-half of 2013.
The watch will connect via Bluetooth to iOS devices like the iPhone and iPod. It will have a 1.5-inch OLED display and ITO-coated glass. ITO, in this case, stands for indium tin oxide.
There have been a few Kickstarter campaigns that might suggest demand for such a product. Notably, one company aimed to turn an iPod Nano into a wearable wristwatch with some success. Both Sony (NYSE: SNE) and Nike (NYSE: NKE) are putting more technology into wrist-friendly devices as well.
The move would be a boon for Intel, which has struggled to gain traction in the mobile device realm. Intel is aiming to put its new "Sandy Bridge" chip in Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Pro-based tablets, though some have reported issues with integrating the chipset.
It was also rumored that Apple might drop using Intel chips in the future, though not to much more on that chatter has surfaced.
Apple and Intel are both indicated higher Thursday morning.
