Unwired Planet, Inc. (Nasdaq: UPIP) shares are on watch Friday following news that the company is griding to exercise every bit of its roughly 2,000 patent portfolio.
Bloomberg said that the company is looking to file suit against Google (Nasdaq: GOOG)(Nasdaq: GOOGL), Huawei Technologies, and Samsung Electronics, in London. The six patent trials are expected to last more than a year.
While the phone makers see the cases as trivial, should Unwired Planet come out victorious, that could mean hundreds of millions in licensing fees. (Note: The company last boasted a market cap around $85 million.)
Phone makers largely content that Unwired Planet is seeking excessive fees, according to court documents.
Shares of Unwired Planet are flat in early trading, after closing up over 2 percent on Thursday.
