Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 6/15: JAZZ, AIM, QEPC, CYCC Higher; ODC, LEA, CDII, IRE Lower
Jazz Pharmaceuticals' (Nasdaq: JAZZ) 70.8% HIGHER; sodium oxybate (JZP-6) demonstrated statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in pain and the core symptoms associated with fibromyalgia, according to Phase III data presented last week at the 2009 Associated Professional Sleep Societies meeting in Seattle, WA. These data have not been evaluated by the FDA or other regulatory authorities for use of sodium oxybate in the treatment of fibromyalgia.
Aerosonic Corporation (Amex: AIM) 66.2% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.38, compared to a loss of $0.07 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $8.77 million, versus $6.65 million in Q108.
Q.E.P. Co., INC. (Nasdaq: QEPC) 44.7% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.64, compared to $0.35 in the same quarter last year. Revenue for the quarter was $50.7 million, versus $52.9 million in Q109.
Cyclacel Pharma (Nasdaq: CYCC) 38.5% HIGHER; upside momentum in the name is continuing this week following a late-day 25% rally on Friday. The stock has already quadrupled its normal average daily volume.
AEterna Zentaris Inc. (NASDAQ: AEZS) 27.8% HIGHER; reported that patient follow-up in the open-label safety study (study 041) of its Phase 3 program in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) with its lead endocrinology compound, cetrorelix pamoate, is scheduled to be completed at the end of this week. Oil-Dri Corporation of America (NYSE: ODC) 22.3% LOWER; late Friday announced that it expects to lose a material amount of branded cat litter sales and related profitability with its largest customer. See more info from the press release.
Lear Corp. (NYSE: LEA) 20.7% LOWER; following last week's 55% surge, Barclays downgraded the stock from Equal Weight to Underweight, also cutting its price target to $0.25 per share.
China Direct Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDII) 17.9% LOWER; announced that it has entered into definitive agreements to sell 2,702,704 shares of its common stock and warrants to purchase up to 1,351,352 of common stock to accredited investors. The purchase price per share of the common stock will be $1.85.
Maguire Properties, Inc. (NYSE: MPG) 17.8% HIGHER; moving higher on a couple different news items. First the company said it and its joint venture partner, Macquarie Office Trust, announced that, in anticipation of a possible payment default, they have entered into negotiations with the special servicer under the CMBS financing covering the Quintana Campus in Irvine, California. Maguire also announced that it has completed the sale of 3161 Michelson located at the Park Place campus in Irvine, California to an affiliate of the EMMES Group of Companies.
Bank of Ireland (NYSE: IRE) 17.2% LOWER; downgraded from Buy to Hold at Deutsche Bank.
Columbia Banking System (Nasdaq: COLB) 17% LOWER; late Friday announced that based on current information available to management, it expects to make a provision for loan losses of approximately $21 million for Q2. This morning, JMP Securities downgraded the stock from Outperform to Market Perform.
