With zero months to go until support for Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows XP is dropped, how many PCs are still running the operating system?
According to one data set, quite a few.
NetMarketShare has about 27.7 percent of global PCs on Windows XP, second only to Windows 7 at 48.77 percent. That's a drop from 29.5 percent in February, but still a little higher than it should be with no technical support being offered by Microsoft from here on out.
Microsoft will actually release its final public path for Windows XP on April 8th, so there's still some time.
Notably, Windows 8 and 8.1 are clocking in at market share of 6.41 and 4.89 percent, respectively. At a combined 11.3 percent, it isn't the best share, but it isn't the worst either given the rough first-year the operating system had.
Microsoft is up 0.8 percent Tuesday.
