Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE: UA) is trading just about flat following a slow start Monday as its key gold sponsee had an exciting weekend.
Jordan Spieth is ranked number one golfer in the world, having come in second place at the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits on Sunday. Spieth was aiming to win three majors in a season, something only accomplished by Tiger WOods and Ben Hogan.
Finishing solo second at the PGA Championship, with Rory McIlroy needing to end outside the top six (he finished solo 17th) catapulted Spieth to the number one spot.
Overall, Spieth's season could also be fruitful for Under Armour. Being at the top of the pack each tournament means more airtime for the company's logo, potentially leading to stronger category sales.
