Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) said to suffer potential password leak, according to market reports.
UPDATE - ZDNet noted Tuesday that some readers reported receiving an email from Amazon with the company notifying users that it reset their password. With the email, Amazon said it recently discovered that your [Amazon] password may have been improperly stored on your device or transmitted to Amazon in a way that could potentially expose it to a third party [...] We have corrected the issue to prevent this exposure.
Amazon said it didn't have any reason to believe that passwords were improperly disclosed to a third party. The company did issue temporary passwords out of an abundance of caution.
Shares of Amazon are lower in early trading Tuesday.
