The NY Post Is Angry That CNBC's Maria Bartiromo Didn't Disclose A Particular Relationship

On Monday, CNBC's Maria Bartiromo scored the first interview with ex-Merrill Lynch CEO, John Thain, after he was ousted from Bank of America (NYSE: BAC). The NY Post is angry that Bartiromo didn't inform viewers that both her and Thain's PR guru is Ken Sunshine and he apparently helped set-up the interview.

"It's a huge conflict of interest. It's incredible she didn't disclose this over the air, but she thinks she's above it all," one broadcast insider told Page Six. "And she was really kissing Thain's ass during the interview."

For example, Maria asked Thain why there was a need to redecorate the office for $1 million? To which Thain responded that Stan O'Neill kept it in a different condition and the office couldn't function unless it was redesigned. Maria should have asked a follow-up question as to why the office wouldn't function before he updated it, but she neglected to.

Obviously, during those early days, Thain should have been focusing on Merrill Lynch and not wondering if fuchsia goes with burgundy.
