Tesla (TSLA) Model X Reservations Said to Surpass 30,000 Units - TMC

August 18, 2015 2:07 PM EDT

Reservations for Tesla's (Nasdaq: TSLA) Model X are said to have surpassed 30,000 to-date.

According to Tesla Motors Club, the global reservation total for the Model X SUV stands at 30,027. Notably, the sections are divided into Signature and Production variations, with regions spanning from the U.S. and Canada to China and Australia.

The last update was today for TMC user NerdDoc, 2015, for U.S. reservations. China hasn't been updated since November 24, 2014.

TMC offers the following caution: This collection of the numbers is gathered from posts by members on various threads and other forums. Please note: these aren't official numbers, and are to be taken with a grain of salt. Do not rely upon the total of production + signature numbers in any way as those who have upgraded from a production reservation to a signature reservation have been counted twice. Also cancellations are not considered.

Given the lack of global data, it's likely that reservations outpace what is being recorded on the TMC forum. The post also estimates about 20 cancellations per month within the data set.

Shares of Tesla are up around 1 percent Tuesday afternoon.
